In our continuous effort to improve the gameplay experience and ensure a balanced, stable server, we’ve implemented some key configuration changes. These updates address performance and gameplay challenges by reducing the number of zombies spawned, fine-tuning the Blood Moon difficulty, and limiting the view distance to reduce server load.
The Changes at a Glance
1. Reduced MaxSpawnedZombies
- Old Value: 64
- New Value: 32
By cutting the maximum spawned zombies in half, the server now has fewer active entities to process. This not only eases the strain on system resources but also helps maintain smoother gameplay during peak activity periods. This adjustment aims to reduce lag and improve overall responsiveness during zombie hordes.
2. Tweaked BloodMoonEnemyCount
- New Settings: 4 zombies per player with a maximum total of 32 zombies
During a Blood Moon event, the challenge escalates by increasing enemy encounters. However, the adjusted settings ensure that the difficulty scales appropriately to the number of players on the server. With a cap of 32 zombies (and only 4 per player), even large groups face a challenging—but manageable—blood moon, preventing the scenario from becoming overwhelmingly chaotic.
3. Lowered ServerMaxAllowedViewDistance
- Old Value: 12
- New Value: 6
The maximum allowed view distance directly impacts how much of the world the server has to simulate and render. By reducing the view distance, the server workload decreases substantially, leading to improved performance and more consistent, lag-free gameplay—especially on servers with a high number of players.
Why These Changes Matter
Stability is at the heart of any great gaming experience. With these modifications, server administrators can expect:
- Enhanced Performance: Fewer entities and a smaller world view mean reduced processing demands, which can help avoid performance bottlenecks.
- Balanced Gameplay: By scaling the Blood Moon difficulty to the number of players, every participant enjoys a fair yet challenging game environment.
- Smoother Experience: Lowering the view distance minimizes the chances of lag and provides a consistent, more reliable server performance.
